The Lincoln Foundation was established in 1968 with a mission to contribute to the preservation of a diverse stock of housing in the Town of Lincoln, to protect and develop affordable housing opportunities in the Town, to cooperate with government agencies and private charitable organizations to preserve open space and protect the environment, while increasing the availability of housing opportunities in the Town for persons of limited financial means, to enhance the quality of life and community in the Town, and to preserve the essential values and characteristics of the Town’s rural heritage.

Bridge the Gap: Keeping affordable housing affordable

Lincoln’s largest (45 units) affordable home ownership project, Battle Road Farm, is now over 30 years old and requires major updates. The upgraded wastewater/sewage treatment plant alone will result in substantial added fees for BRF owners. Basic unit upkeep is also expensive. Some of the people we helped obtain affordable housing years ago can’t afford to stay.

The Lincoln Foundation recently received a substantial gift, in memory of a family member for whom housing justice was very important, with the goal of seeding fundraising to help Lincoln neighbors stay in their homes.

Inspired by this gift, and Lincoln’s stellar history of private generosity, we embark on this fundraising campaign to support affordable homeowners in “bridging the gap” between their income and the rising costs of home ownership in Lincoln.
